What CookieYes is

CookieYes provides a cookie consent banner and consent management service for websites, including a WordPress plugin. It stores consent by category, such as necessary, functional, analytics, performance and advertisement, in the cookieyes-consent cookie.

It exposes a getCkyConsent() function and fires a cookieyes_consent_update event when a choice changes.

What marketers use it for

Site owners use it to show a consent banner and to load analytics and advertising tags only for the categories a visitor accepted. Developers listen for its update event to react to choices.

How to recognize CookieYes on a site

  1. Open the site in Chrome, open DevTools (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac) and go to the Network tab.
  2. Reload the page and type cookieyes into the filter box. The banner script loads from cdn-cookieyes.com/client_data/ with the site's ID in the path.
  3. In the Console tab, type getCkyConsent() and press Enter. Returns the visitor's consent choices by category.
  4. In Application, then Cookies, look for cookieyes-consent. Some cookies only appear after a consent choice or a specific action.
