What Criteo OneTag is

Criteo describes OneTag as a JavaScript tag loaded on each page of a shopping journey. It logs events such as product views, add to cart and transactions, builds audiences and, on retail media pages, can return sponsored products and ads.

Pages queue their events in a criteo_q array that OneTag reads when it loads.

What marketers use it for

Retailers and advertisers use it for retargeting and commerce media. Page-type events such as viewItem, addToCart and trackTransaction feed Criteo's product recommendations and measurement.

How to recognize Criteo OneTag on a site

  1. Open the site in Chrome, open DevTools (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac) and go to the Network tab.
  2. Reload the page and type criteo into the filter box. OneTag loads from dynamic.criteo.com/js/ld/ld.js with the partner ID in the a parameter.
  3. In the Console tab, type window.criteo_q and press Enter. Shows the events the page has queued for OneTag.
  4. In Application, then Cookies, look for cto_bidid, cto_bundle. Some cookies only appear after a consent choice or a specific action.
